PGCET Determination Merit
The determination of merit in Karnataka PGCET (Post Graduate Common Entrance Test) is based on the marks scored by the candidate in the entrance exam. Here's how it works for various programs:
1. MBA / MCA / M.E. / M.Tech / M.Arch
- PGCET Rank List Criteria:
- Only PGCET marks are considered (out of 100 for MBA/MCA, and out of 100 for M.E/M.Tech).
- No weightage for qualifying exam marks (like B.Com, B.Tech, etc.).
- Ranks are assigned purely based on PGCET score in the respective subject.
PGCET Seat Allotment Process (Step-by-Step)
1. Publication of Merit List
Separate merit lists are prepared for each course (MBA, MCA, M.Tech, etc.).
GATE-qualified candidates (for M.Tech) have a separate merit list.
2. Online Document Verification
Candidates must verify documents online or at designated Helpline Centres.
A verification slip with secret key is issued for option entry.
3. Option Entry
Candidates log in and choose preferred colleges and courses in order of priority.
Can enter multiple options – more is better to increase chances.
4. Mock Allotment
KEA (Karnataka Examinations Authority) conducts a mock round to help candidates understand seat trends.
After this, candidates can modify their options before the final round.
5. Final Seat Allotment
Seats are allotted based on:
PGCET rank (or GATE score for M.Tech)
Category (SC/ST/2A/2B/3A/3B/GM)
Reservation (Hyderabad-Karnataka, Physically Disabled, etc.)
Availability of seats in preferred colleges/courses
6. Downloading Allotment Letter
Candidates can download their seat allotment letter from the KEA portal.
7. Fee Payment & Admission Confirmation
Pay admission fees online via KEA portal.
Download admission order.
Report to the allotted college with original documents within the deadline.
